I am glad I went back to blogging. The positive response that I got from people I don’t even know is just astonishing. I am surprised that, aside from my friends, there are other people who read this blog and they are gracious with their kind words, so I am actually inspired to keep on doing this. Thank you, juanderkids! 🙂
And then there are these little surprises.
I am really glad to know that some of the beach pictures that I have posted on Ten Philippine Beach Destinations made it to this year’s Folklorama Festival in Winnipeg, Canada. My orgmate from UP, who is now based there, sent me a picture of those photographs from my blog as exhibited in the Philippine Pavilion of the said event.
I have learned that the Folklorama Festival is the “world’s largest and longest-running multicultural festival,” so it is a little bit thrilling to know that some people find my photographs interesting for them to be included in this festival. While the organizers didn’t ask for my permission to use those pictures, I really don’t mind. Anything to promote the Philippines. 🙂
Also, I was really surprised to find one of my beach photographs (again) on the frontpage of OFWorld, a publication circulated in Italy for our kababayans there. To be honest, I write travel stories for the said paper and its editor-in-chief is one of my best friends, it just didn’t feel right to see my picture on the frontpage. Crazy katsu! To our kababayans in Italy,“Ciao amici!” 😀
And just this weekend, I got a message from an Australian travel writer who works for some of Australia’s magazines and she wanted to interview me about Filipino food and traveling in the Philippines! And three weeks back, I also received an email from someone who writes for Leisure Boating Magazine South Africa and he was asking if they can print some of my Donsol photographs on their magazine. Who am I to say no, right?! 🙂
So there. Juanderkid is so looking forward to more happy days.
Love and light everyone, go juanderlust! 🙂
