After an action-packed day of swimming with the whale sharks, slow down by lounging out at the beach and just get lost in the panoramic beauty of sunset in front of you. Donsol is home to a big number of whale sharks, the world’s largest fish, during summer, and the once-in-a-lifetime experience of swimming with them is heralded by the travel guide book Lonely Planet as the “quintessential Philippine adventure.”
But there is more to Donsol than its whale sharks. This quaint town south of Manila has magnificent sunsets that make it one of the country’s superb canvasses. From cotton candy-like hues to fiery, arousing colors, this work of nature is a humbling spectacle.
Most of the resorts in the area face this sunset so enjoying this view should not be a problem. One can also opt to walk around town first, which is 10 minutes away by tricycle from the beach, and then head to a village locals refer to as Punta, where one does not just get a view of this sunset but also gets a peek at the majestic Mayon Volcano from afar.
