Okay. Before I announce the names of the winners (can you tell we have more than one winner?), I will discuss first the process by which we selected the entries which my friends thought were deserving of winning the Donsol Holiday Package for other people.
Yes, you read it right. I inhibited from the selection process because aside from initially finding it really confusing to choose a winner, I know most of the people who participated. I wanted to be objective so I employed the help of my friends from the academe – letter-writer of the year extraordinaire Ma’am R and The Singing Teacher, I.
I printed out a copy of all the entries and randomly numbered each paper. I deleted the names of the senders as well as other unnecessary remarks such as, OMG! Juanderkid is so awesome (okay nobody said this)! Only their reasons for joining the promo were printed on the paper.
Ma’am R and I separately read all the entries. I just told them to pick three entries which they feel were deserving of the package. The entry that appears on both list shall be named the winner. They were not allowed to discuss their choices with each other. No explanations were necessary. I also refrained from discussing their choices with them.
When they were done with the task, I got this note from Ma’am R.
Well, ever since I got to read their compelling reasons why they should win the package, I have been thinking about naming not just one winner but two. Ma’am R’s note sealed the deal. I decided to have another winner. But aside from one entry, Ma’am R and I’s choices did not tally.
So, I called on another friend for help, best bud A. Before he went to Manila last night, I read to him all the entries while I omitted the unnecessary remarks and the names of the senders. I told him to remember the entry that struck him the most. After some time, he sent a message detailing what he remembered most from all the entries which he felt was deserving of the package.
And the winners of our “Do Not Delay Love” Birthday Giveaway are:
Jennifer Victoria Reyes – “I want to dedicate this trip to my older sister, Christina Marielle Reyes. She has been battling Lymphoma cancer (stage 4) since she was 19 years old, this December 11 will be her 23rd birthday. I hope she wins!!! She hasn’t been able to travel and enjoy the beauty of other places because she used to have a grade 1 crack on her lower back. I wish my mom could be with her as well. I want them to feel that the storm had already subsided and we all made it.”
Rozy – “In case you choose my comment, I’d dedicate it to my parents for being there for me even if I became the biggest pain in the ass throughout these years. I may have become a mother at a very young age, but they still accepted me and my child and still supported me every step of the way. Without their support, and without their faith in me, I would not have had a degree in college. Their faith in me did not stop, and they still gave me a bonus –and that’s me taking my second degree. I would like to give back for their genuine love and care with this package, especially now that I still do not have a job to get and earn money from. I know that it will still take a lot of time for me to earn for something to give them. When I graduate, I’d automatically be earning for my own family, and they might already be too old when I get to earn and give them a gift as awesome as this. I would not want to delay my love for them.”
Congratulations to both of you! Please send me a message as soon as you have the date when you want to avail of the package. Please take note of some of the package’s “restrictions” as mentioned in the promo. Thank you!
And thank you everyone for joining! I really appreciate all of your entries. Until our next giveaway promo! 🙂
Love and light, everyone. Go, juanderlust! 😀
- For matters of full disclosure, the two winners were my former students, but I assure you that it did not matter in the selection process as already discussed in this post.
