Most of us see the new year as an opportunity to better our lives. The start of the year usually has us embarking on a precious journey like we don’t want to put into waste this new lease on life that has just been handed to us.
I like to treat new years as birthdays – that chance to celebrate the kind of persons we’ve become after 365 days, and the solitude to ponder on the kind of persons we want to nurture in the coming days. There is something refreshing and liberating about starting a new leaf or a new ride in our life, but there’s also something intimidating about it.
Some draw their bucket lists to get them started, others come up with their new year’s resolutions. A good number of us visualize our goals with an “in it to win it” attitude, even going to the point of creating our mood boards to get us out of our beds and work on our objectives for the year.
For those who want to make this year highly memorable but don’t know where and how to start, never fret. Juanderkid has something for you! I will work on a travel to-do list for you so you don’t have to worry about thinking of ways to enjoy 2013. Consider this your mood board! 🙂
You. Only Better. Desire No. 1: Just have fun. Let loose. Dance like no one is watching.
I understand that for most of us, travel is a luxury that does not come every day. We labor hard for it, heck, we slave ourselves to work just so we can spend on our much-needed 3D2N getaway.
It only makes sense that we make sure we truly get to enjoy our holidays. We eagerly plan our itinerary, carefully choose our wardrobes and prepare the gizmos which will aide us achieve that one unforgettable adventure.
However, not a lot of us realize that in the course of all these preparations and travel madness, some of us have turned into wanderzillas who actually miss the joy of traveling just because the airplane did not leave on time, the weather was not cooperative, the camera’s battery suddenly went dead, or there’s an item on the bucket list that can’t be ticked off just because.
Relax. Traveling is about finding joy in the most unexpected circumstances.
So the plane did not leave on time, which means you’ll be way behind your schedule, but it’s not the end of the world, right? Instead of worrying about the situation and letting the backslide get the worst of you and totally ruin your trip, take the opportunity to talk to a fellow traveler at the airport or read that book you’ve been meaning to finish but just couldn’t.
Sometimes, setbacks in our travels can actually do us more good than harm, depending on how you take the situation. So, just have fun. Let loose.
And dance like no is watching once you get to your destination. Seize the moment and live the possibilities!
Which should tell you that you should be carefree and never fret when your itinerary does not go as planned. Ditch that gadget for a time and allow the scenery to blow you away. Turn your car’s air-conditioning off and let the wind touch your face. Walk barefoot. Touch the trunk of a century-old tree. Laugh with the locals.
It is your attitude towards traveling that sets the tone of your getaway and saves the day.
Love and light, everyone. Go, juanderlust! 😀
